Well unfortunately Isabelle has came down with croup. Saturday she had a very, very mild cough. Sunday turned into a deep, strong cough. Monday followed with a fever that we were unable to break without medication every 6 hours followed by throwing up three times from coughing so hard. We took her to the doctor Monday and her lungs checked out perfectly clear. They ran blood work to confirm it was nothing bacterial and all viral, which it was. So home we went with instructions to watch her and keep the ibuprofen coming. Tuesday the fever continued and the coughing got worse. She only threw up once Tuesday from her coughing so I thought we were maybe making progress. Tuesday night she started the classic croup cough, but only one episode of it. I called her doctor last night, we brought her in this morning and they did confirm it is croup. Luckily we have caught it early enough that they were able to give her a steroid shot (ouch) to prevent her throat and neck from swelling and causing difficulty breathing (which is the main concern with croup).
Hopefully we are nearing the end of this sickness and that she is on a full path to recovery. I pray the steroid does keep her breathing normal and hopefully reduces the coughing so she is able to get some good sleep at night. I have spent the last three nights sleeping in her bed with her to help sit her up and give her water when she does cough. We feel so bad for her and hope our little girl gets back to her healthy, smiley self very soon.
We love you Isabelle Ann!
prayers for a speedy recovery!!!! Love you Isabelle!
