Easter Festivities Part 1

Our Easter celebration started a day early at our house!  Easter Sunday we will be going to an 8:30 church service up in Ames and that means leaving our house bright and early.  So the Easter Bunny decided to come Saturday morning to leave Isabelle her "indoor" presents and will also be coming Sunday afternoon after her nap to give her a big outdoor present and hide eggs around the lawn! :)

Friday night we had Isabelle set out her Easter basket for the bunny.  I told her the Easter Bunny was going to come and fill it with presents and she looked upset and shook her head no.  (She is still not a fan of him after seeing him at the mall).  I then told her that just a bunny would come and leave her presents and she was perfectly happy about that.  We actually have a bunny that we feed carrots too everyday in our yard and I think she thinks that is the bunny that would be leaving her presents.  So cute.

Here is Isabelle putting her basket out Friday night before bed.

Putting her own toys in it!

We then put out some carrots for the bunny to eat while he was here!

While Isabelle slept, the Bunny was hard at work leaving gifts and lots of eggs!

Saturday morning before breakfast Isabelle was very excited to see what the Bunny left her!  She opened all the eggs herself and loved it!

Her Easter eggs were full of lots and lots of stickers and of course some candy!

On to the basket gifts.......Tinkerbell!!!

A big chick!

Bunny bubbles!

A Disney Princess camera and case!

Mrs. Potato Head.....to go with her Mr. Potato head she already has!

An Easter slinky!

Lots and Lots of Winnie the Pooh stickers!

Simba had an Easter egg as well with a toy!  Isabelle was very excited to show him his orange egg.

This picture is hard to see but here she is handing him his new toy.  What a good sister. :)

After a busy morning and a busy day of playing, Isabelle was very, very tired tonight. She fell asleep on me as usual and is fast asleep in bed.

We put carrots for the bunny outside tonight (as always) and I think he is already hard at work with her new sandbox she is getting tomorrow!  We are looking forward to a great Easter day tomorrow with family! Stay tuned for the Easter festivities from day 2!

A Rainy Day Play Date!

This morning Isabelle had her friend Adeline over to play!  It is a cold, rainy day so what could be better then playing inside with a friend!

When I told Isabelle that Adeline was coming over she anxiously stood at the front door waiting for her!

Time to play!

They both ate peanut butter chocolate chip cookies for snack! (Yes, not very healthy, but very yummy!)

Here they are actually playing together!

Until Isabelle got distracted by Mickey Mouse on TV.

Isabelle had a great morning playing with her good friend Adeline, and as always I love seeing Jill and catching up! Hopefully their next play date will be outside in the sunny weather!

A Homemade Walt Disney World Treat!

If you have ever been to Walt Disney World, then you will know what I am talking about when I say they have the best Mickey Mouse rice krispie treats!  They are in the shape of Mickey, come on a stick, and you can get them with the ears dipped in chocolate.  Look in any resort, store, or gift shop and you are likely to find these for sale.  I should know...they are one of my favorite snacks to eat when down there! Unbelievably good!  Today Isabelle and I decided to try to recreate these delicious Disney World treats!
Here is how it went.....

First some shopping for the items we did not have at home....rice krispies, marshmallows, and chocolate chips!

Next, the butter and marshmallows went into the pan with the help of Isabelle.  (Okay lots of marshmallows went on the floor but we did still have plenty of good ones left!)

While mommy melted the marshmallows, butter and stirred in vanilla and rice krispies....Isabelle kept her eye on the bowl of chocolate chips that were waiting to be melted.

And she snuck a few samples too!

Next we used our Mickey Mouse hamburger press to form the shape!  Isabelle was a big help patting it all down nice and tight!

Until she decided it would be more fun to taste it!

We then put melted chocolate on the ears and them put in the fridge to set for about an hour.

YUMMY!!!!!

Since Kevin works late hours he doesn't take his lunch break till 2:00 or later.....well Isabelle decided to take no nap today so Kevin came home to see her since she would be awake over his lunch time.  Isabelle was happy to show daddy the treats we made today! (We put them each in plastic bags to keep them fresh)

Later during a wagon ride Isabelle sampled her delicious treat!  Actually she only had a couple bites, I think she ate too much while we were making them!

And there you have it!  Our version of a Walt Disney World favorite!
